For starters I am doing away with the formality of apologising for not writing..for the past 1 month..
Let me see..I decided long back that I would discontinue writing about my life and starting shelling out my opinion about the random things..that may or may not affect me..
Let me get started about movies(I had to start somewhere!)..they form an integral part of my life, now more than ever since I am stuck at the hostel with not much work to do..but spend my time watching new and old movies....At the risk of being called "high class"..let me state a fact or rather a personal opinion(too many "let"s in this post..sorry for that)..I cannot stand the regular hindi/telugu movies...It always seems to be the same old story where the bottom line is hero fights villain and the heroine is just eye candy..(and in some cases...very awkward and vulgar eye candy!)..or the latest trend in hindi movies seem to be making comedy movies that have lame jokes that only make mockery of our brains when they expect us to laugh at them...
One professor said that he doesnt like serious movies that make us realise that we live in a bad world and depress us even further..and that he wants to laugh in a movie(even if it is at the director and the actors for their pathetic effort!)..a movie has to be entertaining..
I agree partly with him..A movie has to be entertaining..but I feel at the same time it has to depict reality..they should make a mockery of dumb practices...they should impact society..and I feel India of all places in the world should have good films that make sense..
The recent "Jodha Akbar"...is one of the movies that I happened to watch..Though I confess I watched the 3hr odd movie in 1 1/2 hrs..(credit to my friend who has an active finger..and which always rests on the forward button!)...As I watched it ...whatever the controversies it is in..I feel the film itself had nothing to do with history and getting the facts right..It was a film that had a simple message.."Respect your neighbour and harmony will prevail" ...I feel half the population that watched it totally missed it...People just watched it as a love story..with two big stars in it and Aishwarya rai's bad acting..and elaborate costumes and sets....
I would say I liked "Jodha akbar" for the message it carried and I didnt like it for the way it was made!!
